The Flame Point Ragdoll is recognized by the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) as a unique color variation of the Ragdoll breed. Flame Point Ragdoll has beautiful orange or red coloring on its ears, face, paws, and tail, while the rest of its body is a lighter, creamy color. The nose and paws of a Flame Point Ragdoll are typically a soft pink color, Like all ragdolls red Ragdoll also have blue eyes.

Flame Point Ragdoll Kittens

Just like other Ragdoll cats, Flame Point kittens are born mostly white Their unique flame-colored points on the ears, face, paws, and tail begin to show up around 4 to 6 weeks of age. However, the full intensity of their color doesn’t develop until they’re about 2 years old.

At first, the points are faint, but they darken gradually as the kittens grow. This slow process of coloring is typical for the Ragdoll breed, and Flame Points are no different.

As they mature, their coats become fuller and more luxurious, making them even more beautiful.

Is a flame point Ragdoll rare?

Yes, Flame Point Ragdolls are relatively rare compared to other Ragdoll color variations, such as the traditional blue point or seal points. The Flame Point coloring is less common due to the specific genetic traits needed for it to occur.

This rare coloration is the result of a recessive gene that produces the reddish or orange points on their ears, face, paws, and tail. While still recognized by organizations like the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA), these cats are less frequently bred compared to the more typical color patterns seen in Ragdolls.

Care Requirements for Flame Point Ragdolls

Flame Point Ragdolls need a balanced diet that is rich in protein to support their muscular build. High-quality cat food, whether commercial or homemade, is essential. Protein should be the primary ingredient, and owners should avoid foods that contain too many fillers or artificial additives. Ragdolls can be prone to weight gain, so portion control is important.

Although Flame Point Ragdolls have semi-long fur, it is not prone to matting like many other long-haired breeds. However, they still need regular grooming. Brushing their coat two to three times per week is sufficient to keep it smooth, reduce shedding, and prevent tangles. During shedding season, daily brushing might be needed.
